Ruthie Faye Purvis, 87, of Muscle Shoals, passed away on November 30, 2021 at Cypress Cove Center. Visitation will be Saturday, December 4, 2021 from 11 a.m. – 12 noon at Colbert Memorial Chapel with a graveside service to follow at 12 noon in Colbert Memorial Gardens. For twenty years, Faye served admirably as the wife to John V. Purvis- a Master Sargent in the Air Force. She followed him into his second career with the Tennessee Valley Authority. She literally lived all over the world with her family. Among the places included Texas, Mississippi, Alaska, Virginia, and Alabama. As a loving mother, she raised three children, Jimmie, Barbara, and Wesley into productive and responsible adults. Faye was a member of Muscle Shoals Living Center where she spent time working and volunteering. She enjoyed her many friends there. She was a lover of country music, dogs, cats, and an avid practitioner of the Kiln Arts. She spent the final years of her life surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Purvis was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, John V. Purvis; parents, Homer and Ruth Green; brothers, Junior, J.W., Billy, Gerald, Harold, Lee Wayne, and Donald Gene Green; sister, Mozelle Drinnon; grandson, Dillon Wastrack; and son-in-law, Ken Wastrack.
She is survived by her children, Jimmie Purvis, Muscle Shoals, Barbara Wastrack, Muscle Shoals, Wesley Purvis (Julie), of Stanley, North Carolina; granddaughter, Kristina Goudeau (Paul) of Alabaster, Alabama; and twin great granddaughters, Elle and June Goudeau of Alabaster, Alabama.
Our family would like to thank the nurses and caregivers at Helen Keller Hospital and Cypress Cove Center. We are also grateful for the phenomenal care provided by Comfort Care Hospice.
