Lecil James Burleson, also known as “Birddog” and “PaPaw”, age 80 of Haleyville, Alabama passed away October 19, 2026. He was a member of Cherry Hill Church of God and loved working for the Lord. He was a man who thoroughly enjoyed working, who was a long hall Truck Driver for many years, and now he was working as driver with Terry Equipment Company.
Visitation will be Friday, October 23, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Haleyville, AL. Visitation on Saturday will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon at the funeral home. Funeral service will Saturday, October 24, 2026 at 12:00 Noon in the chapel, with Royce Brimer officiating. Burial will follow in Thornhill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Doug Pendley, CJ Burleson, Dennis Steele, Jason Harris (Coach), James McCullough (Mudd Flap) and William Pounders (Ghost).
Mr. Burleson is survived by his wife, Kimberly Burleson; children, Chris Burleson, Renae Burleson, Anthony Burleson, John Melton (Haley) and Chris Ingram (Kate); brother, Jerry Burleson (Donna); sisters, Janice Harrison , Judy Hosler and Tabatha Benefield (Ricky); grandchildren, CJ Burleson, Jacob Melton, Jaci Gist, Janson Melton and Avery Ingram; and great grandchildren, Payton Loveless, Gracie Burleson, Christopher Burleson and Maggie Burleson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lecil and Annie Mae Burleson; brother, Larry Burleson; and sister Kathy Elkins (Jerry); brother in law, Bobby Harrison.
