Steven Michael Sherbundy, MSgt (retired) and PT Assistant of Woodville, AL passed away October 13, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. He was a 1964 graduate of Douglas High School in Box Elder, SD; a retired US Army Veteran and Master Sergeant who served two tours in Vietnam and a total of 23 years in the military; and a Physical Therapy Assistant serving the people of north Alabama for 19 years. He graduated from Athens State College in 1987 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, and later graduated from Wallace State college in 1997 with an Associate’s degree in applied science- Physical Therapy Assistant. While serving our country, he received the Purple Heart award, Bronze Star Medal, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, and many more awards. He lived a life full of devotion and service to others. He is survived by his daughter Sarah Sherbundy Andrews; sons Robert and Joseph Sherbundy; grandchildren Cheyenne, Isabella, Robert, Ben, Kendall, Silas, David, and Skylar whom he idolized and loved dearly, and by whom he was worshiped; and his sister Janet. His parents Robert and Betty, as well as his wife Lynnell Sherbundy of 49 years precede him in death. A viewing service honoring his life will be held Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Scottsboro Funeral Home from 5-7 pm, as well as a Military Honors ceremony at a later date. Donations to the Wounded Warrior Foundation are requested in lieu of flowers.
