Dick Campbell, 95, of Arab, Alabama went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, May 18, 2021. He was born on January 30, 1926 in Albertville, Alabama. He dropped out of Arab High School at the age of 17 to enlist in the Army Air Force where he served for two years during World War II. After an honorable discharge, he completed his studies at Arab High School. He worked as a water well driller with his brothers in the tradition of his father and grandfather for many years and later served as manager of the Arab Wastewater Department. He was an avid fisherman, catching a 13 pound bass and a 50 pound catfish. He loved grilling a steak on Saturday nights and playing and singing country/western music with his brothers. He was also a great storyteller, spending many hours enthralling his family with tales of his adventures with his brothers and friends. He was married to Dorothy Johnson Campbell for 59 years who preceded him in death in 1988 and his parents were Lewis Marion Campbell and Beulah Harris Campbell. He is survived by his children Richard Campbell (Susan), Jimmy Campbell (Teressa), Lynn Campbell (Sue) and Jon Campbell (Dianne). He is also survived by his brother Billy Campbell and many nieces and nephews. He had 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Dick Campbell was a loving father and will be greatly missed.
Funeral Service will be conducted Friday May 21, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Bro. Randy Evers, Officiating. Burial will follow in Arab Memorial Cemetery, Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, Directing
Serving as pallbearers: Richard Campbell, Jimmy Campbell, David Campbell, Jason Campbell, Mike Campbell, Dave Martin, Don Martin and Justin Campbell.
Visitation for Mr. Campbell will be from 10 – 11 A.M. Friday, May 21, 2021 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
