Frances Wilson Carlton Frances Wilson Carlton passed away Saturday, 26 December, 2020, at Redstone Village. She was born on 2 January, 1936, in El Dorado, Arkansas.

Frances double majored in Journalism and English at the University of Arkansas where upon graduation she was named in Who’s Who among students in American Universities and Colleges. She worked as a newspaper reporter in both Arkansas and Texas, and while living in Illinois, Frances wrote a military news column. Later in South Carolina, she worked as a media specialist and copywriter. As a resident of Redstone Village, she was proud to serve on its council.

She got the nickname “Feenie” from her best friend, Pat Lucy, when they were in the 8th grade because her friend thought “Frances” was too long. They have been best friends since they were three years old.

Her interests included bridge, knitting, reading, building puzzles, and playing games with family.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Howard; her son, David; and her sister, Audrey Campbell. Survivors are her other two children, Lynn Schmitt (Bill) and Joe (Karen); her daughter-in-law, Rachel; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A private Memorial Service and interment with immediate family will be held at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Aldersgate United Methodist Church of Huntsville, Alabama, where she was a charter member.
