Mrs. Janet Lynn Herlong was born August 07, 1963 to the late Annie Will Woolridge and Robert Thomas, Sr. She was the sixth of seven children and the baby girl of the family. She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age. She was baptized and worshipped at Word of God Temple Pentecostal Church in Passaic, New Jersey. She was a loving, devoted, and determined wife and mother throughout her life. She was a vigorously independent, strong, and loyal wife. As a God-fearing woman, she strongly believed in putting the Lord first.
As an adult, Janet relocated to Birmingham, AL where she met and married her husband, Eddie Herlong and started a family. Their union lasted thirty years and produced two wonderful kids, Kiyah and Junior.
She was employed by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama where she worked as a medical transcriptionist and insurance analyst. She attended and graduated from Taylor Business School in Passaic, NJ where she received her credentials in executive secretarial administration duties. She put her skills as an insurance coder and medical transcriptionist to use at various doctor offices in the ensuing years.
On March 25, Janet, after putting up a long, valiant battle with a number of health issues was called home to be with the Lord. Janet is joined by loved ones who have taken their place with the Lord: her loving parents, Annie Will Mitchell Woolridge and Robert Thomas, Sr.; sister, Iantha Williams; nephew, Alvoida Dale Skeen; and niece, Raushanah Belton.
Janet leaves to cherish and treasure her many memories, her husband, Eddie D. Herlong, Sr., of Russellville, AL and her children, DeAnnjanae N. Herlong (Kiyah) and Eddie D. Herlong, Jr. (Junior); four sisters, Linda Boyd, Rosemary Thomas, Brenda Edwards (Gerald) and Carolyn Cartrell; two brothers, Robert Thomas Jr., (Danner) and Mark Thomas (Cheryl); three aunts, Ada Mae Moss, Shirley Hill (Ernest) and Ocie Pearl Henderson (Sanford); an uncle Eddie “Buck” Mitchell; a host of nieces & nephews; and many friends.
A private family graveside service (due to current state policies) will be Saturday, March 04, 2020. Officiating at the service will be Pastor James Williams, III. Interment will be at Franklin Memory Gardens.
