Billy Fay Brewer was born September 20, 1960 in Savannah, TN to the union of the late Allen and Gertie Mae Overton Brewer. Coming from a large family, Mr. Brewer took great pride in family. He was united in marriage to the former Dorothy Pitts in 1986. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, often spending his spare time cutting firewood for the winter or working on a car in the driveway. In his free-time, he enjoyed spending time outside and would often be found fishing, hunting and digging ginseng. Mr. Brewer departed this life on Monday, October 05, 2026 at his home in Collinwood, TN surrounded by his family, making his stay in this life some 66 years and 16 days.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 40 years, Dorothy Pitts Brewer; three sons, Christopher Scott Pitts, Mark Allen Whitney, William Chuck Whitney (Kara) all of Collinwood, TN; three grandchildren, Mason Whitney, Christopher Pitts, Kristian Pitts; He is also survived by his siblings, Audrey Heard of Collinwood, TN; Robert Brewer of Florida; Lawrence Brewer (Rachel) of Lawrenceburg, TN; Carolyn Staggs; Stanley Brewer both of Collinwood, TN; Hazel Rumbaugh (Ted) of Iron City, TN
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Linda Rumbaugh, Chappel Brewer, and three brothers, William Harold “PeeWee” Brewer, Rufus Brewer, and Prince Brewer
Visitation with the Brewer family will be on Friday, October 09, 2026 from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM and again on Saturday, October 10, 2026 from 10:00 AM until service time at 12:00 PM all at Cornerstone Church of Collinwood
Funeral Services will begin at 12:00 PM on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at Cornerstone Church of Collinwood with Daniel Graves and Camryn Eaton officiating. Interment will follow in the Highland Methodist Church Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearer will include: Mark Whitney, William Kephart, Destiney Clay, Charity Kirk, Adam Staggs, Steven Wright, and Jamie Brewer
In Lieu of Flowers, the family has requested donations be given directly to Bates-Love Funeral and Cremation to help offset funeral expenses
