Leona Coker Gipson, age 80 of Decherd, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2020 at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. She was born in Coffee County on July 22, 1939 to the late Armon and Gracie (Crabtree) Coker. Leona and her husband Raymond raised cattle and hogs, and she enjoyed cooking, canning, and gardening. She attended Greenhaw Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, William Gipson; and sisters, Edna Boyette, Dorothy Coker Walls, and Carolyn Davis. Leona is survived by her loving husband of sixty-four years, Raymond Gipson of Decherd; grandson, William Ross Gipson of Decherd; sister, Betty Henley of Ft. Worth, Texas; brother, Clayton (Shirley) Coker of Hillsboro; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Tuesday, February 4, 2020. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Rev. John Gipson and Rev. Kevin Murphy officiating. Interment will follow at Mt.
