"Nita" Waneta Mae Stokes Baggett “Nita” Waneta Mae (Stokes) Baggett, loving mother and grandmother, passed away on January 31, 2020 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Nita was born August 10, 1940 in Jacksonville, Florida to Henry and Waneta Stokes. At Andrew Jackson High School, she was an accomplished majorette and played trombone which gave her the opportunity to play at Carnegie Hall. She attended Massey Technical Institute after high school. After moving to Tennessee, she worked for Boeing and then embraced motherhood with her four children. She was an active member of Winchester Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She then continued her career in the banking industry until her retirement. She was very creative, had a passion for sewing, and loved nothing more than caring for her grandchildren.

Nita was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her four children: Robert (Laurie) Baggett, Brian (Gena) Baggett, Donna (Scott) Walker, and Natalie Baggett (Harry Leible); her grandchildren: Clayton, Alex, Nathan, Delaney Grace, Caroline, Madison, Eli, Mason, Jessie, Jenna and AJ; her brother Henry (Kitty) Stokes; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Moore Cortner Funeral Home 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, Saturday, February 8.
A Family Graveside service will be at Franklin Memorial Gardens.

In Lieu of flowers, please donate to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation, Hospice, or your favorite charity. Please volunteer your time at the local nursing home.
