Betty Jane Roberts – Obituary

Betty Jane Roberts, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. She was born September 19, 1935 to Goldon and Gertrude Lucas Comer. In 1954, Betty married James Wilford Roberts. She was a secretary treasurer for their local family business “Tapco” for numerous years. Betty enjoyed beautiful flowers, shopping, reading, traveling, and most of all, spending time with family. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Wilford Roberts of Saltillo; children, Lynn Still (Malcomb), Don Roberts (Mary Ruth) and Mark Roberts (Angela) all of Tupelo; grandchildren, Benton Still, Tyler Still, Kelsey Still and fiance’ Logan Dodson, Anna Merritt Roberts, Weston Roberts, Kirk Roberts, Kate Roberts, Alivia Roberts, and Luke Roberts; and brother, Roberts Comer.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Lamoin Comer, Fred Comer, and Charles Edward Comer.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 1, 2017, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Jim Yates officiating. Burial will be in Fawn Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers will be the members of her Sunday school class.

In lieu of flower: Sanctuary Hospice, Diabetic Foundation, and Calvary Baptist Church.
