Sandra Lynn Hawkins Smith – Obituary

Mrs. Sandra Lynn Hawkins Smith, 70, died Friday, May 19, 2017 at (UAB) University of Alabama, Birmingham after a brief illness. She was born January 5, 1947 in Amory, MS to Marcus D. Hawkins and Sybil E. Ellenburg Hawkins. She married Jimmy Smith on January 3, 1964 and enjoyed being a devoted wife and mother. Lynn enjoyed reading numerous books, and loved reading mystery novels. She was always interested in British TV, comedy, and the British way of life. She was a loving mother and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed watching sports of all types, and loved to travel and always wanted to go to England. She was a member of Bissell Baptist Church.
A celebration of life service will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 23rd, 2017 in the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Roger Smith officiating. Private burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be today (Monday) from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to service time. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Jimmy Smith of Tupelo; three sons, Coley Smith (Kim) and Jason Smith (Monte), all of Tupelo, and Jeff Smith (Sandy) of Grass Valley, CA; two daughters, Lauren Little of Tupelo and Missy Goff (Chas) of Mooreville; one brother, Richard Hawkins (Linda) of Nettleton: brother-in-law, Bro. Roger Smith (Eleanor) of Tupelo, and sister-in-law, Jeanie White of Tupelo; grandchildren, Chase Smith, Channing Smith, Chloe Warren (Jeremy), Alx Little, Logan Little, Cooper Goff, Sam Tucker Goff, Eliza Jane Smith, and Rowan Smith;; great-grandchildren, Cameron Warren, Luca Smith, and Ava Grace Smith; niece, Jenny Moore and nephew, Tommy Moore. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ruth Margalia Moore and Elizabeth Clingan; niece – Tracy Hawkins, and brother-in-law, Ray Moore.

Pallbearers will be Stan White, Wendell Robinson, Marc Hawkins, and Ricky Ellenburg.
