Cleveland Jarman

Mr. Jarman peacefully passed into eternity on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born May 21, 1921 in Courtland to the late Elsworth Jarman and the late Pearlean Stevenson Warren.

In his early response to Christ, Cleveland became a member of First Missionary Baptist Church of Decatur, but later moved his membership to Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church of Decatur, and later united with Solomon Temple Church in Athens. He was united in holy matrimony to the late Anne Fayetta Oliver Jarman on June 10, 1938, and to that union 11 children were born.

Mr. Jarman was a former employee of Baggett Transportation, Sharon Trucking and First United Methodist Church of Decatur. Cleveland was also a World War II Army veteran.

Cleveland was fondly called “Mr. Cleve” in his community where he had a spirit of servitude, nurturing, giving of self and a compassionate spirit that prevailed amongst his family and people he adored.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Cleveland E. Jarman Jr.; two daughters, Sharon Rose Jarman Webster and Beverly Renee Jarman Langford and a grandson, Cedric Hatcher, in his homegoing.

The memory of Cleveland will forever remain in the hearts of loved ones he leaves behind: his four sons, George Jarman (Vivian), of Decatur, Georgia, Michael Jarman, of Portland, Oregon, Ronnie Jarman and Rex Jarman Sr. (Jewel), of Decatur; his four daughters, Annie Pearl Hatcher, of Shaker Heights, Ohio, Jamesetta Wilkerson, of Tuscaloosa, Sandra (Cookie) Calvin (Donald) and Paula Johnson (Jerry), of Decatur; a nephew, Leon Crayton (Joan), Hillsboro; two sisters, Pearly Woods Houston, of Texas and Delphia Jenkins, Inster, Michigan; 24 grandchildren, Cynthia Funderburk, Kathy Knowles, Freddie Hatcher Jr., Anya Davis, Trevia Wilkerson, Shea Jarman, Cassandra Almond, Ronnie Jarman Jr., Jordan Michael Jarman, Rechelle Jarman, Rex Jarman Jr., Atlantis Jarman, Fayetta Jarman, Janeria Jarman, Shanae Jarman, Cleveland Ester Jarman IV, Carrington Calvin, Rickey Webster, Shawn Webster, Tiffany Webster, Xavier Jarman, Zelcoriah Johnson, Jerry Johnson Jr. and Charlissa Holman; 17 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives.

A Celebration of Life will be noon Friday, May 5, 2017, at Shiloh M.B. Church with Elder Theodore Bone officiating. Inhumation with military honors will follow in Decatur City Cemetery. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to the funeral. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Reynolds Funeral Home.
