Earl Troy Barbin, 76, of Athens died Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born March 3, 1941, in Marksville, Louisiana. Retired electronic technician, Vietnam Air Force veteran and avid bass fisherman and sports enthusiast. He was a world traveler and worked in many countries. He was of the Catholic faith. He was preceded in death by wife, Christa Barbin; father, Earl Frank Barbin; mother, Edna Gaspard Barbin; son, Gregory Barbin; and brother, Joseph Gerald “Joe” Barbin.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 4, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home Chapel with Father Charles Alookaran and Jennifer Barbin Rickett officiating. Visitation will be from noon until service time. Interment will be in the Ripley Cemetery.
Survivors include longtime partner and best friend, Deborah Haney, of Athens; son, Keith D. Barbin Sr. (Cindy), of Colleyville, Texas; stepson, Roland Goepel (Belinda), of Weiterstadt, Germany; sisters, Ellen Conger, of Baker, Louisiana, Jean Walker, of Burleson, Texas; grandchildren, Kristine, Mindy, Jennifer and Keith D. Jr.; and stepgrandson, Dennis Geopel.
Pallbearers will be Keith D. Barbin Jr., Michael Rickett, Blake Barbin, Eric Tanner, Randy Bice II and Tyler Stansell.
