Funeral service for Euwin Thomas Bowers, 82, will be Sunday, December 11, 2016 at 1:30 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ben Bates officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in New Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, December 11, 2016 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at the funeral home.

Mr. Bowers died on Thursday, December 8, 2016. He was born Wednesday, May 23, 1934, in Morgan County to Euwin E. Bowers and Thelma Marie Wharton Bowers. He was a lifelong resident of Valhermoso Springs/ Somerville area until he went to live one of his sisters in Meridianville, AL. He never stopped wanting to live in what he called “A little piece of Heaven” but realized that he could no longer live by himself. Throughout his 82 years, he was a farmer, raising cotton, corn and even one crop of sugar cane. He spent many years of his life logging and out on the Tennessee River musseling. Euwin was the first of 9 children born to Euwin Etherage and Thelma Marie Wharton Bowers, who preceded him in death along with three brothers-in-law: Modie Smith, Dewey Brown and Wayne Scott.
