athens-police-160x140ATHENS-Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson released a statement concerning an argument that turned violent on Monday, November 14:

“This morning around 10:30 the police department received a call that a person had been cut at 503 Acorn Hill Circle. When officers arrived on the scene they were told one person had been taken to Athens Hospital with a gunshot wound by a private vehicle. . They also located a person with a minor puncture wound to the chest. He was later transported to Athens Hospital where he was treated and released. The shooting victim was flown to Huntsville by Med-Flight.
Investigators have interviewed everyone they can at this time involved in this case and collecting all the evidence. I will refer to the male that got cut as victim #1 and the victim that got shot as victim #2. At this time we believe victim # 1 was outside on his phone arguing with his girlfriend. Victim #2 was inside his residence and was bothered by the volume of phone conversation. Both parties started yelling thru the walls at each other. Victim #2 came out of his residence and both parties again got into  an argument. Victim #1 went in the residence at 503 Acorn Hill Circle. Short time later victims #2 broke the window out of the storm door and enter the residence. He had a knife and threatened to stab Victim #1. Victim #1 ended up with a minor cut on his chest. Victim #2 was shot twice in the chest area with a handgun.
In the future our investigators will carry the District Attorney a copy of this case and ask him to review it to determine if he wishes to place it on a future grand jury. As of this time no arrest have been made.”
