THE SHOALS-Entries in the Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area photo contest will be unveiled and the
winner chosen at an opening reception, 6 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 14, in the MSNHA
administrative office, 541 W. College St., Florence.
“We are thrilled with the response we got this year from our theme, ‘Landmarks & Legacies’,”
said MSNHA Programs Coordinator Jessie Johnson. “We asked people to connect our northwest
Alabama stories with America’s 250 th birthday, and the result was spectacular. It was difficult to
narrow down the entries to a manageable number that we could frame and hang in our office for
display and judging.”
Special guests will view the selected entries and choose a winner, which will then be announced
during the reception. The winning photographer will receive a cash prize donated by Florence
Arts and Museums.
“We want everybody to come to the reception. Come view the entries, meet the photographers
and enjoy some refreshments,” Johnson said. “We are gathering to celebrate our talented local
photographers and honor their perspectives on the landmarks that have shaped our history here in
northwest Alabama.”
