Colbert Heights High School Principal For Failure To Report A Crime

COLBERT COUNTY-According to court records Colbert Heights High School Principal Roman Lance Mitchell was arrested on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, after being charged with a misdemeanor for failing to report a crime related to an ongoing child sex abuse investigation within the school system.

The arrest of Mitchell is the result of  a broader investigation involving his nephew, Eli Fuller, who was a science teacher and head varsity baseball coach at Colbert Heights Middle School. Fuller was arrested on September 28, 2026, and faces multiple charges, including electronic solicitation of a child and child sexual abuse, after allegedly sending inappropriate text messages to a 14-year-old student.

As of yesterday Assistant Superintendent Taylor Leathers confirmed that Mitchell has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. It has also been confirmed by the Colbert County School board that Eli Fuller has been served with with a formal termination notice regarding his teaching contract.
