Robert Ray Gilchrist, 85, of Waterloo, died Saturday, October 15, 2016. His visitation will be Monday, October 17th from 6 pm until 8 pm at Morrison Funeral Home, Central Heights. His funeral service will be Tuesday, October 18th at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Larry Burbank and Bro. J.C. Young officiating. Burial will follow in Murphy’s Chapel Cemetery.
Bro. Gilchrist was a pastor of Piney Grove Church for over 40 years and served the Lord more than 60 years. He was a retired timber contractor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elihue and Vina Gilchrist; and his sister, Gladys Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ressie Gilchrist; sons, Steven Ray Gilchrist (Betty) and Roger Lynn Gilchrist; and his grandson, Kenneth Gilchrist.
Pallbearers will be Randy Johnson, W.C. Brown, Raymond Vickery, Randy Farmer, John Parrish, and Roger Benson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Elree Smith, Jack Sharp, and John Wesley Smith.
