Major Robert Norman Andersen, USAF, RET. of Prospect passed away on Monday, October 10, 2016 at Huntsville Hospital Health system. He was born in Monmouth, New Jersey on February 16, 1933 and was 83 years old.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and a member of First United Methodist Church in Pulaski for 40 years. He started flying at the age of 16, and joined the United States Air Force at the age of 19. He served as a fighter pilot during the Vietnam and Korean wars and was stationed all over the world during his 20 years of service. After retiring from the USAF, he was Director of the Giles County Chamber of Commerce and of Urban Development. He taught at the VoTech and was a 50+ year Mason in the Pulaski 101 Lodge. Although born in New Jersey he adopted the South as his home.
Visitation will be on Thursday, October 13th from 11:00am until 1:00pm at First United Methodist Church in Pulaski.
A Memorial Service will follow visitation on Thursday at 1:00pm at the Church with Rev. Lee Stevenson officiating.
Memorial Donations are suggested to First United Methodist Church, 200 West Jefferson St. Pulaski, Tennessee 38478.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Bjorne and Ruth Maude Walsh Andersen.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Angeta Andersen of Prospect
Daughter, Kathy Andersen of GA.
Daughter, Julia (Carl) Whitson of FL.
Daughter, Rebecca Andersen Stokes of GA
Grandchildren, Rena Whitson of FL. and Benjamin Levi Whitson of AL.
Brother, Neil Andersen of PA.
Sister, Joan Van Mater of PA
Several nieces and nephews and other family and friends also survive.
