David Paul Hester, age 77, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016. He was born on July 1, 1939, in Russellville, Alabama to the late Thirlo and Mary Lee Hester. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Dale Scott. Mr. Hester retired as a major with the Army after 23 years of service and also worked for 22 years as a facility manager with Oglethorpe Power Corporation. He was a member of Snellville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Carol Hester, of Villa Rica (Paulding County), Georgia; daughter, Cynthia Hester, of Phoenix, Arizona; stepchildren, Brad and Carole Craft, of Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania, Matt and Lori Craft, of Dallas, Georgia, Julie and Ken Brown, of Roswell, Georgia; brother, Fred and Elsa Hester, of Independence , Kansas; sister, Evelyn Scott, of Russellville, Alabama; grandchildren, Jenna Ratteree, Daniel Craft, Ethan Craft, Adam Craft, Myles Craft, Laken Craft, Scott Miller, and Trip Brown; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Hester will be held on Friday, Aug. 19, 2016, at 11 a.m. from the Clark Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Don Rackley officiating. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. Serving as pallbearers will be Matt Craft, Brad Craft, Daniel Craft, Adam Craft, Ethan Craft, and Myles Craft.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
