Laverne Smith Hughes, 88, of Guntersville passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Albertville Nursing Home.
Laverne was born on March 4, 1927 to the late Hubert W. Smith and Mamie McCoy Smith.
Funeral services will be 11:00AM Friday, February 26, 2016 at Albertville Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Rehobeth Cemetery in Guntersville.
Pallbearers will be Jeffery Hughes, Mark Sims, Lynn Buckelew, Mason Sims, Greg Smith and Nuco Vasquez.
She is survived by her son, James Ronnie Hughes and wife Regina, daughter-in-law, Geraldine Hughes, brother, Rufus Paul Smith and wife Doris, grandchildren, Melissa Sims and husband Mark, Leah Hughes, Jeffery Hughes, special friend, Carl Calhoun, and 6 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hughes is preceded in death by her husband, James Hughes, parents, Hubert W. Smith and Mamie McCoy Smith, and beloved son, William Hubert Hughes.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at Albertville Funeral Home Downtown.
