Katherine Rogers Clark died at her Huntsville home on October 11, 2015. Her long illness is over and now she begins a new journey.
Katie was born September 1, 1946 in Macon, Georgia to Jerry Elisha and Annie Mae Rogers, both deceased. She is survived by her husband, Gary, who always made her laugh and was her tender caretaker throughout her lengthy illness. In addition, she is survived by her daughter, Kristi Anne Clark and her granddaughter, Trinity Amelia Honey, who was the joy of her life. She also leaves behind her brother, Jerry Howard Rogers and his wife, Ginny, of Watkinsville, GA, and her sister, Martha Rogers Abrams and her husband, Ray, of Grand Island, Florida. She is also survived by three nephews, three nieces, eight cousins, her mother-in-law, and two sisters-in-law.
Katie married Gary, the love her life, on September 1, 1972. It was her birthday and he was all she wanted for her birthday that year and for the next 42 birthdays.
She graduated from A.L. Miller High School in Macon and received her B.S. in Education degree from Auburn University. She had many jobs over the years, including teaching English, social work, and later a series of fun jobs. She especially enjoyed her last job, cooking for several groups at First United Methodist Church.
The Clarks lived in Georgia, Virginia, and German, but most of her life was spent in Huntsville.
Visitation will take place at the chapel of First United Methodist Church, Huntsville from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, prior to the ceremony of remembrance. Reverend Coy Hallmark is officiating.
The family wishes to thank all who gave her such great care during her illness. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice are appreciated.
“The day one dies is better than the day he is born.” Ecclesiastes 7:1. Katie loved her faith, her family, her friends, her books, and sharing her faith and her love through her cooking. “They are not dead who live in lives they leave behind. In those whom they have blessed they live a life again.”
