Mr. Ellis Wayne Ramsey, age 89, of Athens, Alabama, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026. He was born on July 19, 1937, in Alabama to the late Walter Lee Ramsey and Reba Louise McLemore Ramsey.
Wayne was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was known for his love of family, his kind heart, and his unwavering loyalty to those he loved. He especially enjoyed cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide and was a dedicated Alabama football fan throughout his life.
He is survived by his children, Brian Ramsey (Andrea), Stephen Ramsey (Mary Jo), Paula Eaton (Tim), and Jessica Scott (Mike); his sisters, Eugenia Sandlin and Marietta Savaadra; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
Mr. Ramsey was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Glenda Ramsey, and his parents, Walter Lee Ramsey and Reba Louise McLemore Ramsey.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Thatch and Mann Cemetery in Athens, Alabama, at 11 a.m. with Reverend Jeremy Meetze officiating.
Pallbearers will be Tim Eaton, Tyler Eaton, Troy Eaton, Bryce Scott, Coner McKinney, and Braylon Lopez-Vega. Honorary pallbearers will be Jameson Eaton and Cooper Eaton.
Wayne’s legacy of love, faith, and devotion to his family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
