FLORENCE-The Lauderdale County Democratic Executive Committee on September 14 opened qualifying for local races and set qualifying fees in the party primaries. Local races in the party primaries are to be held on March 1, 2016. Qualifying will close at 5:00 PM on November 6, 2015.
The winners of the primary election on March 1, 2016, will be the nominees of the Democratic Party in the general election to be held on November 8, 2016.
The forms for candidates to use in qualifying are available on the website of the Alabama Democratic Party, which is www.ALDems.org or are available at the office of John Harris, Lauderdale County Chairman, 407 S. Court St., Florence, during regular office hours. Qualifying papers must be filed with the county party chairman at his office. Good information for all candidates, including a “Candidate Filing Guide,” is also available on the website of the Alabama Secretary of State at www.alabamavotes.gov/downloads/election/fcpa/cfg-14th-edition.pdf.
Lauderdale County Democrats expect a full slate of candidates for every local office and are also assisting the state party in seeking those candidates who run for office by filing qualifying papers with the state party. We believe the voters of Lauderdale County are seeing local Republicans spend money like never before seen at the county level, using up reserves put aside when Democrats were in charge, and they will want to restore the stability with the high level of service we had when all the local offices were held by Democrats.
