James Marcus Newton, 77, passed away on March 30, 2015, in Cypress, Texas after a long battle with cancer. He was born on April 12, 1937, to Mark and Virgie Newton in Sheffield, Alabama. Lovingly known as “Bubba,” James married Mary Frances Harvey on July 2, 1960, in Center Star, Alabama. James was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Rubye Sockwell and Betty Horrocks.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; children, David, Mike, and Kris; three grandchildren, Erin Newton and Emagail and Eliana Newton; sisters, Jean Jackson and Polly Hester; and brother, Russell Newton. He is also cherished by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Family will receive friends today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Brookside Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 3, 2015, at 11 am in the Grand Chapel of Brookside Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Brookside Memorial Park.
