Benjamin Franklin Nicholson, 73 of Owens Cross Roads, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2014 at Huntsville Hospital. Mr. Nicholson was born and raised in Tennessee, then moved to the Huntsville area in 1970. He was a loving husband, of 54 years, father and grandfather. He is of the Methodist faith. He spent most of his career in auto sales and worked at Jerry Damson of Huntsville for many years. He was a big UT Vols fan and watched every game he possibly could. He enjoyed spending time with his family and fishing. He had a very strong work ethic and taught his daughter the same. He spent hours teaching her to play sports and how to take care of herself; everything from hanging fans to changing car tires. He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Goldie Nicholson; his granddaughter, Alyssa Rogers, and his brother, Devon Nicholson. He is survived by his wife, Fran; his daughter, Jennifer; grandchildren, Bennett and Alexondra Rogers; their father, Chris; two sisters, Delores and Deanna, and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services are scheduled for Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 12:00 pm at Hampton Cove Funeral Home and Cemetery. The family will accept friends at the funeral home from 11:00 until service time. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to either of his two favorite charities; Wounded Warriors or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
