Gay Tyson Schmitz passed away December 7, 2014 in Athens, AL.
She was born in Memphis, TN to Charles Franklin Tyson, Jr and Dovie Christine Ruff Tyson. She lived her youth in Marianna, AR until she married William Thomas Schmitz of Forrest City, AR in November 29, 1961.
Throughout the years, they had four children: Dovie Christine Schmitz Pryor, Leslee Ann Schmitz Garza, Charles Thomas Schmitz and Michael Aston Schmitz.
She was preceded in death by her parents and former husband. She is survived by her sister, Linda Lee Tyson Ausley and her four children and each of their spouses. She has 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
She was active in the community as a member of the Jr. Auxiliary, hosted an exchange student for a year, and later became a foster parent to several children. She was co-owner of Tyson’s Jewelers. She dearly loved her family, horses and pets. Visitation will be held at Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville on Friday, December 12, 2014 from 5:00pm until 6:30pm. Services will follow the visitation at 6:30 in the Spry Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, a donation to The Ark of Huntsville, AL would be greatly appreciated.
