Rayburn Thomas Johnson, 71, of Muscle Shoals, passed away Monday, Nov. 10, 2014. His family will receive friends for visitation at Colbert Memorial Chapel today from noon-2 p.m. The funeral will begin at 2 p.m. in the Colbert Memorial Chapel, with burial to follow at Shaw Cemetery. Stan Smith will be officiating. He was a member of Leighton Baptist Church and an avid NASCAR fan. He attended the school for the deaf and blind in Talladega and was a farmer. Rayburn had retired from Saturn as an auto worker.
He was preceded in death by parents, J.J. and Mozella Johnson, brother, Hillard Johnson, nephew, Stanley Johnson, and brother-in-law, Kenny Owens.
Survivors include sons, Thomas Johnson (Candice) and James Crosswhite; daughters, Tammy Reed (Jamie) and Teresa Burden (Joseph); sisters, Jewel Gargis (Ronnie), Barbara Owens, and Peggy Smith (Melvin) He had ten grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Darryl Johnson, Buddy Johnson, Chris Gargis, Randall Owens, Otis Hamilton, Wesley Burden, Bradley Gargis, and Jamie Owens.
