Allan G. Brown, 96, passed away Friday after a long illness. Mr. Brown, originally from Corunna, Michigan, had resided in Madison since 2004. Mr. Brown was a wounded warrior who was decorated for valor during his World War II service with the 10th Armored Division, fighting as an element of General George S. Patton’s 3rd Army during the Ardennes, Central Europe, and Rhineland Campaigns. He also participated in the Liberation of the Dachau Concentration Camps. After the war, Mr. Brown returned to Michigan and continued his career as a barber which he began when first licensed at age 13. He continued to work for 53 years until his retirement. In addition to owning and operating his own small business, Mr. Brown served as the City Clerk for Corunna, as Commander of VFW Post 4005, and as president of the Corunna Rotary Club.
A member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Marjorie Brown; stepdaughters: Carolyn Mars (Jerry) of Traverse City, Michigan, Sandy McRae (Chris) of Madison, Bobbie Jersey of Madison, and Jo Moore of Harvest; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service and burial will be in Corunna, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or a charity of your choice.
