John Willard Carter – Obituary

John Willard Carter, age 91, of Tuscumbia, died Sunday, July 13, 2014. Visitation will be Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Darrell Pace and Roger Bond officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.

Mr. Carter was a Franklin County native and a fifty five year member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was retired from Robbins Tire & Rubber, after forty two years of service. Mr. Carter was preceded in death by parents, Charles and Zady King Carter, sisters, Vivian Winchester and Josie Borden, and brothers, Vernon Carter, Marlin Carter, and J.R. Carter.

Survivors include his wife of seventy years, Leolar Burcham Carter, daughter, Kathy Allen, grandchildren, Lisa Borden (Micah), Patrick Allen, great grandchildren, Katelyn and Claire Borden, brother, Roger Carter, sister, Francis Martha Frick, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Patrick Allen, Micah Borden, Bobby Burcham, Tifford Borden, Sam McClure and Leon Burcham.

Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. Andre Taylor, Dr. A. E. Joiner, Charlie Carmichael, Bryce Graham Jr., Tony Logan and Tim Milam.

John’s family would like to express special thanks to the staff’s of J. W. Somner and Helen Keller Hospital.
