ATHENS-The third annual City of Athens Relay for Life Team Bass Fishing Tournament today (May 10) at Ingalls Harbor raised $7,000 for the American Cancer Society. That brings the total raised for this Relay campaign by the city’s team to $17,000, nearly a $3,000 increase from last year’s campaign.
The Athens Gas Department grilling crew cooked over 600 pieces of chicken all day Friday for first responders and tornado victims, and then was asked to cook more later Friday night. Despite that long day and night of cooking, the grilling crew came out to support the fishing tournament and grill hamburgers and hot dogs for the boaters.
