ATHENS — Athens Main Street is turning up the flavor in Downtown Athens with the return of Summer Sippin’ on Saturday, August 15, from 3–7 p.m. The annual event invites the community to stroll downtown, shop local, and sample creative summer drinks while voting for their favorite sip.
Participating downtown businesses will offer their own signature beverages for guests to sample throughout the afternoon. From refreshing teas and lemonades to creative specialty drinks, Summer Sippin’ is a fun way to discover local businesses while enjoying everything Downtown Athens has to offer.
“Summer Sippin’ is one of those events that really captures what we love about downtown,” said Tere Richardson, Executive Director of Athens Main Street. “It gives people a reason to slow down, visit businesses they may not have been in before, do a little shopping and just enjoy being downtown. And, of course, everyone has fun debating which business has the best sip!”
Guests can sip, score and vote for their favorite Summer Sippin’ creation by scanning the event QR code. A map of participating locations will help attendees plan their route through downtown.
This year’s event features dozens of participating businesses throughout the downtown district, making it easy to turn Summer Sippin’ into an afternoon of shopping, dining and exploring.
Summer Sippin’ also falls right in the middle of Downtown Athens Culinary Month, making it the perfect time to enjoy even more of what downtown has to offer. After sampling your way through Summer Sippin’, make plans to stay downtown for dinner at one of your favorite restaurants or try somewhere new. It’s a great opportunity to sip local, shop local, and dine local all in one afternoon.
