DECATUR-The Decatur Police Department’s Patrol Division made a traffic stop on a vehicle that was using a switched tag and as the officer approached the car they left the scene. The officers made an arrest and here is how Decatur Police described the incident:
“On March 8, 2014 Officer Blanton with the Decatur Police Department’s Patrol Division initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a switched tag in the 100 block of Austinville Road SW. When Officer Blanton approached the vehicle, the driver ( later identified as Richard Eubanks) sped away attempting to elude Officer Blanton. A vehicle pursuit insued.
After a brief pursuit, Eubanks lost control of the vehicle in the 1600 block of Betty Street SW and wrecked

into a privacy fence. Eubanks exited the vehicle and attempted to run from pursuing officers. As Eubanks ran from the officers, he discarded a bag containing items consistent with manufacturing methamphetamine. Eubanks was found hiding under a car in a driveway that was not his own. Eubanks was taken into custody.
The passenger of the vehicle, who was later identified as Jennifer Keenum also exited the vehicle after the wreck. Keenum was located attempting to hide from the officers. Keenum was taken into custody and charged with Criminal Trespass 2nd Degree.
Eubanks was placed under arrest for Felony Possession of Drug Paraphenalia, Driving Under the Influence, Attempting to Flee and Elude, Resisting Arrest, Open Container, Driving While Revoked, Switched Tag, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident. Eubanks also had outstanding warrants through the City of Decatur. The warrants were for a Probation Violation ($500.00 cash bond) and Failure to Appear ($130.00 cash bond).
Keenum was transported to the Decatur City Jail where she was booked and held.
Eubanks was transported to the Decatur City Jail where he was booked and held. Once Eubanks satisfies his warrants through the City of Decatur, he will be transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $6,000.00 bond.”
