Flarice, one of fourteen children, grew up in the Fulton Bridge Community on a farm located in the Bend of the River. A busy farm family in which each child had a job and duty was organized by Mama Ett. Papa John directed the large farm’s operation. Their home was the scene of many gatherings….often entertaining many from the surrounding area. It was filled with music as Mama Ett was an accomplished shaped-note singer and Papa John treated the family to fiddle tunes during the evenings. Both passed her love of music on to all her children.

Flarice married James Orville Clark at age 19, he was 25. They were married 52 years and taught their children the value of a good name and hard work. Flarice loved the outdoors and gardening. She will be remembered for the quilts, dolls, bonnets, and pot holders she created and gave to her children and grandchildren over the years. Flarice worked for Munsingwear Corporation and Toll Gate Garment Company, retiring there in 1981. She was a member of the Hamilton Church of Christ.
