SelmaMrs. Selma Marie Schenck (nee Honsperger) age 90, of Florence, died on November 10, 2013 after a brief illness. She was born and raised in Oakmont, PA and married Charles William Schenck in 1943. Her husband worked as a metallurgist in the aluminum industry and they lived in Cleveland, OH; Bridgeport, CN; and Massena, NY, moving to Florence in 1957. Selma was active in Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Coffee High Band Boosters, Mother Singers, Gingerbread Playhouse, and the Help Center. A devoted wife and mother, she was passionate about her Church, cooking and sewing. Her grandchildren brought joy to her life and learning to email family and friends was a late-life accomplishment. She was happiest when surrounded by her family at the dinner table.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 13, 2013 from 10 – 11 a.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Florence, with the service to follow at 11 a.m. led by the Rev. David Doroh. Interment will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.

Mrs. Schenck was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Marie Honsperger; beloved husband, Bill; her sons, David and Tim; brother, Freddy and sister, Alvera.

She is survived by her four children, Carl Schenck and wife Martha of St. Louis, Kathy Baldwin and husband, The Rev. Dr. Gary Baldwin of Brewton, AL, Karen Townsend and husband Jim of St. Louis, Norman Schenck and wife Lorie of Asheville, NC; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the Rev. David Doroh, Eldercare Services, Columbia Cottage, the Palliative Care Center at ECM Hospital, and Hospice of the Shoals.
