Rain plays havoc

IMG_0013TUSCUMBIA-Years of drought and now excess rain has stressed trees to the point of limbs breaking or complete trees toppling. I’ve had over three inches in two days at my house in Tuscumbia, and Florence had that much or more in one storm Tuesday.    One of my co-workers working the afternoon shift came in looking like a drowned rat even though she had an umbrella.

Grass mowing and weeding are weeks behind all across the Shoals.  Grass and weeds has Sundialovertaken my flower beds so that the hummingbirds can’t find the flowers and have resorted to using the feeders.  Sugar water is made daily and feeders rotated with clean ones.   I don’t know where the yard ends and flower beds start anymore.

In the Popular and Tombigee Street area of Florence, a tree toppled and took out poles, power, cable and phone lines Thursday during a thunderstorm.   More rain is in the forecast.
