Dale was a man who could do just about anything he set his mind to do. A self-taught carpenter, plumber, and electrician, he had a gift for figuring things out and taking pride in doing things himself. He was a hardworking man and a good provider who took great satisfaction in caring for his family and his home.

He especially enjoyed his property and the peace and quiet it provided. He built a catfish pond and a cabin on his land, creating a special place where he could relax and enjoy the things he loved. He took great pride in keeping his yard and property neat and well maintained, and he enjoyed nothing more than spending time outdoors taking care of his place.

He loved rabbit hunting and enjoyed listening to the dogs run through the woods as they followed the trail. He was also an avid antique collector and could spend hours looking at and appreciating old treasures. He especially enjoyed watching American Pickers, always interested in the history and stories behind the things people collected.

Above all, he was a family man. He loved his children and grandchildren dearly and took great pride in them. He worked hard to provide for his family and found joy in knowing they were cared for. He also dearly loved his wife Geneva’s cooking and enjoyed sitting down to a good home-cooked meal.

He leaves behind the legacy of a man who worked with his hands, cared for his home, loved his family, and found happiness in the simple pleasures of life.

Those left to honor Dale’s memory include his wife of 64 years, Geneva Robbins Smith; his children, Jamie Smith, Robin Sims (Bub), and Mandy Spears; his former daughter-in-law, Angel Stuart; his former son-in-law, Joe Spears; his grandchildren, Brooke Sims Butler (Bradley), Logan Smith, Pearl Spears (Hank Newberry), June Spears (Ryan Ward); his great grandchildren, Carter Sims, Hayley Sims, Eli Sims, and Bella Sims; a special sister-in-law, Norine Cornelius; niece, Tracy Cornelius, and nephew, Chris Cornelius; other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Larry Smith and Gerald Smith; his sisters, Estelle Ayers, Louise Mullins, and Sharon Harkness; and his brother-in-law, Norman Cornelius. Magnolia Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Dale Smith.
