Mark Stephen Holderfield, of Foley, Alabama, passed away on August 2, 2026, at the age of 66, surrounded by his family. His life was marked by service, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to helping others. Kindness was not something Mark talked about—it was something he lived every day.
Mark was a devoted husband to Jeannie Holderfield and a proud father to his son, Josh Holderfield. He is also survived by his brothers Frank (Brenda) Holderfield and Matt (Delinda) Holderfield, his sister Sandi (John) Cook, and a large and loving extended family. Mark cherished being a grandfather to Brooks and Aiden, and enjoyed time with his son-in-law Brad (Haley) Taylor, especially on the golf course.
Mark gave generously to those in need. Every Monday, he cooked meals for the homeless and often delivered food to individuals and families seeking support. If someone called for help—no matter the hour or distance—Mark was already on his way. His heart for service knew no bounds.
He was a proud member of Lexington First Baptist Church in North Alabama, where he found fellowship, purpose, and a community he dearly loved. He had many good memories traveling and serving with the youth and college and career teams.
Mark contributed to major recovery efforts following Hurricane Katrina, including beach restoration and cleanup along the Gulf Coast. He later worked for several years as a carpenter, building cabinets and remodeling homes throughout North Alabama. His craftsmanship, reliability, and strong work ethic earned him deep respect from all who worked with him.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Melissa and Chason Franks for providing a place to stay while they ministered to Mark. They are also deeply grateful to the entire Hospice staff for their care and compassion. Special appreciation is given to Brenda Holderfield, whose support and care for Jeannie during Mark’s final days was a true blessing.
Celebration of Life
A celebration of life will be held at Clements Baptist Church – Creek Campus on August 15, 2026, at 1030 a.m. The address is 10880 Snake Road, Athens, Alabama. The graveside service will be held later in Foley, Alabama.
Mark’s favorite Bible passage was Psalm 23, which was read to him as he took his final breath. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Pam. The family takes comfort in knowing he is reunited with them.
