Ray Dean Carter Profile Photo Ray Dean Carter, age 92 of Murfreesboro passed away on Wednesday August 5, 2026. He was a native of Allen County, Kentucky, and preceded in death by his father, Edwin L. Carter, mother, Lela Rippy Wagner and stepfather Jessie Ray Wagner.

He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Shirley F. Carter; daughter, Debra Lindsay and husband William “Jim” Lindsay, two granddaughters, Erin Roberts and husband Steve, Kate McNees and husband Russ; three precious great-grandchildren, Emily Roberts, Carter McNees, and Will McNees.

Mr. Carter loved spending time with his family. woodworking, making clocks, and playing golf. Before retirement Mr. Carter served as plant manager for Sign Manufacturing Companies. Early in his career he worked for L & N Railroad. He will always be remembered by his family and friends for his kindness, patience and gentleness. Mr. Carter was a long-time member of Kingwood Church of Christ.

In lieu of flowers donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Kingwood Church of Christ .

Graveside service will be Sunday August 9th 1:00PM at Evergreen Cemetery. Woodfin Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements www.woodfinchapel.com
