Albert Boone (A.B.) Willis, age 95, of Florence, passed away July 1, 2026.
Visitation will be Monday, July 6, from 1-2 pm at Greenview Funeral Home with a service in the chapel at 2 pm. Burial will be in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
Albert Boone (A.B.) Willis was born in Uniontown, AL on January 19, 1931 to Emmett Willis and Ada Love Willis. He was the 11th of 12 children born to them. He grew up in Cloverdale and married Phyllis Gandy Willis on October 7, 1950. He joined the Navy and did four years and then graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He spent most of his career at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville. He worked on the rockets, the space shuttle and the space station during his time there. Every chance he got he went fishing, golfing and bowling up until his early 80’s. He even played on a basketball team up until his late 20’s or early 30’s. He tutored other engineering students also.
He was a sweet, gentle soul who took good care of his family and loved his hobbies. He loved music (especially 60’s music) and loved to whistle. He was always happy and was loved by everyone.
He leaves behind his wife, Phyllis; son, Richard Allen (Rick); daughter, Lynn (Joe) Brown; grandsons, David (Brooke) and Paul; great grandchildren, P.J. Willis, Riley Willis and Alex Willis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his granddaughter, Rachael and all of his other siblings – Arthur Willis, Ruth Willis Ward, Monie Lee Willis, Naomi Willis, Norma Willis Hill, Ola Willis Knox, Linnie Willis Lamberth, Gilbert Willis, Robert Willis, Mary Sue Willis Bevis, Jimmy Willis, and Hazel Willis Holt.
