In Loving Memory of Lance Tompkins
Fifty-one years ago, on May 10, Larry Wayne Tompkins Jr., known as Lance, was born. November 5, 2026, Lance passed away and made his journey to his heavenly home.
Lance dedicated 22 years of his life to his job at Russellville Walmart, where he became part of a family of coworkers and friends.
He had a love for road trips, the perfect playlist, and spending time with friends and family. He also had a great interest in true crime, conspiracy theories, and standing up for what he believed in.
Although he wasn’t from England, Lance surely knew how to spill some hot tea! TMZ was undoubtedly jealous of his skills.
His heart was as big as he was tall. When Lance loved, he loved fiercely. He enjoyed spending time with his family (well, sometimes!). He lived by the motto of being unapologetically yourself, and that he did!
Lance is survived by: His mother, Kathy Tompkins; his siblings, Mikki, Jake (Kayla), and Josh (Heather); his favorite aunt, Diane; and his beloved nieces and nephews, Desirea (Stan), Brooke (Troy), Lauren Tompkins, Emory Tompkins, Weston Tompkins, and Andi Blayke Tompkins.
He was welcomed home by: his dad Larry Tompkins, grandparents, Mary & Virgil McKelvy, and brother-in-law Raymond McNatt.
Honorable Mention: Teresa Phillips.
Although his life on earth has ended, the love he gave and the memories he created will live on forever.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to his Walmart family, along with all of the first responders who helped them through such a difficult time. Your kindness, support, and compassion will never be forgotten.
And, in the words of the “Britney” we all know he loved, “Oops! … I Did It Again!” And by “it,” I mean made you laugh!
Lance will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten!
Special thanks from the family to First Responders, EMS, all that came to the house to assist in helping with Lance on Thursday. And a big thanks to his Wal-Mart family.
The visitation will 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2026 @ Spry Memorial Chapel, with the memorial service at 1:00 p.m. Bro. Bobby Brown will officiate the service.
