John Thomas Hambrick, of Florence, AL, passed away June 23, 2026. John was born August 2, 1954, in Decatur, AL, to Jimmy and Jimmie Dean Hambrick. John grew up as a member of Central Baptist Church in Decatur, and attended Decatur High School, graduating in 1972. He attended Florence State University, where he was a member of the ATO fraternity. John loved music and played in bands in both high school and college.
John was previously married to Myra Smith, with whom he shared a son (Robert), and Cheryl Haugh. His entire career was spent in the credit industry, in various sales and management positions. He was a resident of Atlanta for most of his life, before relocating to Florence in 2024.
John leaves behind a brother, Mike (Ceda), of Florence; sister, Suzann Bishop, of Huntsville; two nephews, two nieces, and countless friends across the United States.
The Hambrick family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Betty Chasteen, Tracy Womble, Jeannie Staggs, Susie Landers, and the staffs and caregivers at The Renaissance of Florence, Affinity Hospice, Mitchell-Hollingsworth, and North Alabama Medical Center.
A private family burial will take place in Decatur.
