Mr. Christopher Alan Barefoot, 54, died Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at Sanctuary Hospice House following an extended illness. He was born July 24, 1971 in Shelby County, Alabama, to James Michael (Mike) Barefoot, Sr. & Carlene Street Barefoot. Upon Alan’s graduation from Thompson High School, Alabaster, AL, he continued his studies and played baseball for Itawamba Community College, as well as Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, AL (1989-1993). He worked as a lineman for Tupelo Water & Light for more than 20 years. He coached many of his daughters’ park and rec soccer teams, as well as son’s travel baseball team. He loved watching his son play baseball at Mooreville High School and was excited to cheer them on just before they took home the state title a few weeks ago. He was an avid Auburn University sports fan. He enjoyed cooking for family, vacationing at the beach, and spending quality time with his grandbabies, Brody and Lettie. Alan was witty, selfless, down to earth and always gave the best advice. He was an amazing dad & granddaddy and will be missed dearly.

Survivors include Alan’s mother, Carlene Barefoot of Birmingham; son, Carter Barefoot of Mooreville; 2 daughters, Katelynn Lewis (Chris) of Pontotoc and Taylor Bishop (Grant) of Mooreville; 2 brothers, Brad Tracy (Maryland) and Mike Barefoot, all of Birmingham; 1 sister Laurie Tracy (Charlet) of Birmingham.
