MUSCLE SHOALS – North Alabama Shoals Hospital has announced that Shea McDill, RN, has been recognized as the facility’s 2026 Mercy Award winner. The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of Lifepoint Health’s facilities who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.
The Mercy Award is an annual recognition program that honors the life and contributions of Scott Mercy, Lifepoint’s founding chairman and chief executive officer. The award is considered the highest honor a Lifepoint employee can receive.

“At Shoals Hospital, our mission is advanced by team members who consistently put others first,” said Braxton Holloway, Chief Operating Officer. “Shea exemplifies that standard in both patient care and community service. We are proud to recognize the meaningful impact she makes every day.”

McDill serves as a Charge Nurse in the Emergency Department, where she is recognized for her clinical judgment, leadership, and integrity. Her commitment to patient care is reflected in multiple five-star reviews and patient satisfaction survey recognitions. She was also recently honored with the DAISY Award after personally providing clothing, shoes, and other essential items to an admitted patient in need.
Beyond her professional duties, McDill focuses her personal time heavily on widespread community impact and outreach:
  • Sustained Food Bank Volunteerism: Every Saturday throughout the year, McDill volunteers her time at the Moulton Dream Center food bank, helping distribute food donations and essential support to individuals and families facing hardship.
  • Community Serve Days: McDill personally plans, coordinates, and leads local outreach events and “Serve Days” for area children and families. These events organize local community partners to provide free meals, activities, and free haircuts to families who might otherwise go without.
  • Jail Ministry and Spiritual Support: Devoting her time to a local jail ministry, McDill consistently offers empathy, hope, and spiritual encouragement to incarcerated individuals during some of their most difficult moments.
McDill leads through action and serves quietly without seeking recognition, consistently placing the needs of vulnerable and often overlooked populations before her own.
“Shea consistently demonstrates the true spirit of mercy through selfless service, generosity, and dedication to those most in need within our community,” added Shoals Hospital Chief Nursing Officer Beth Lofton.
Each facility winner, including McDill, will be considered for Lifepoint’s 2026 company wide Mercy Award. The company wide winner will be announced this summer and honored during a ceremony in Nashville, Tenn., in September.
