Dwight Cole.jpg Dwight Uron Cole, 64, of Florence, Alabama passed away unexpectedly on May 22, 2026. Dwight was born July 31, 1961, to the late John Bunyan Cole and Rosie Langham Cole in Florence, Alabama.

He obeyed Christ at an early age. As he grew in his Christianity, he was active in the bus ministry, financial records, and was an active song leader until his passing. Dwight was a faithful member of Eastside Church of Christ, Florence, Alabama. He graduated from Henry A. Bradshaw in 1980. Here he developed his love for music, played the Cornet in high school, and was a member of the marching band.

Later on in life, he learned to play acoustic, electric, and bass guitar. He earned his electronics degree from Muscle Shoals Technical School. He then went on to work with Chrysler of Huntsville in their electronics division before retiring. He later returned to working with his late father John Bunyan Cole at Bunyan’s Bar-B-Que until his death. Dwight produced barbecued pork, chicken, and ribs that were recognized nationally, statewide, and locally. In his later years, he learned to make vanilla custard ice cream that was some of the best.

Dwight is survived by his mother, Rosie Langham Cole; brothers, Christopher Bunyan Cole, MD, and Malcolm Darryl Cole (Jackie); sister, Felicia Cole Jones (Willie-Deceased); nieces, Samone Jones, Paige Jones, and Jocelynn Cole; and nephew, Willie “C.J.” Jones, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation with the family will be Friday, May 29, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Thompson and Son Funeral Home, Florence, Alabama.

Funeral services for Mr. Cole will be held Saturday, May 30, 2026, 11:00 a.m. at Eastside Church of Christ in Florence, Alabama, with interment following at Tri-Cities Memorial Garden in Florence. Mr. Cole will lie in repose at the church one hour before the service. Public viewing will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thompson and Son Funeral Home of Florence is directing.
