Foster mother extradited back to Florence on child abuse, human trafficking charges

FLORENCE-Jenise Spurgeon a Florida woman facing hundreds of counts of child abuse and enticement charges is back in Lauderdale County as of Wednesday, April 5.

Spurgeon was a foster parent in Florence who has been accused of hundreds of sex crimes involving 11 young children in Alabama she has been extradited from Florida.  She is being held without bond at this time and is tentatively set to appear before Judge Gil Self on Friday April 7  at noon  for a hearing regarding her bond.

Jenise Spurgeon is being held in the Lauderdale County Detention Center on multiple charges, including 100 counts of child abuse, 11 counts of first-degree human trafficking and domestic-violence strangulation while she was a foster parent in Florence.

Daniel Spurgeon

Her husband, Daniel Spurgeon, has yet to be brought back to Alabama but remains jailed in Florida. The man is wanted in Florence on 115 counts of first-degree sex abuse, 122 counts of child abuse, four counts of first-degree sodomy, four counts of sexual torture, three counts of domestic violence by strangulation or suffocation, six counts of first-degree rape, 115 counts of enticing a child for immoral purposes, six counts of incest and 11 counts of first-degree human trafficking.
