Florence Police Arrest Suspect Charging Him With Attempted Murder

FLORENCE-On April 18, 2024, at approximately 10:30 PM, officers received a call of a wounded female having been shot and on her way to the hospital. Officers were told the incident occurred at a residence in the 400 block of North Cherokee Street. Officers then responded to the residence.

Upon arrival, officers observed Quentin Lamont Smith of Florence inside the residence with a handgun. He was apprehended and charged with Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Firearm. Officers established a crime scene, and detectives responded to process the residence.

After further investigation, it was determined that there was a domestic relationship between the victim and Smith. An argument ensued, and Smith sliced the victim with a knife and fired several rounds at her. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Smith was later charged with Attempted Murder, and Domestic Violence Criminal Mischief 3rd degree.
Quentin Lamont Smith, 40 years of age, from Florence, is being held on a $675,000 bond at the Lauderdale County Detention Center.  Quentin Lamont Smith is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
