MUSCLE SHOALS & PHIL CAMPBELL-Northwest Shoals Community College (NWSCC) students Faith Cook and Emma Engle were named as two of 48 students in the state to the 2024 All-Alabama Academic Team. They were honored Friday (4/19) during a recognition program in Birmingham, Ala.

Cook and Engle will each receive a $1,000 scholarship for being selected to the All-Alabama Academic Team.
Cook, a Phil Campbell resident, plans to graduate from NWSCC and transfer to the University of Alabama to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Her dream is to become an engineer and make an impact in her community.
Engle, a Haleyville resident, plans to attend the University of North Alabama and earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education. Her goal is to become an English teacher.
NWSCC students submit applications to Phi Theta Kappa for the All-Alabama Academic Team. The criteria for selecting students is to choose students who “excel academically; demonstrate intellectual rigor in their course of study; show academic growth and potential; and use their two-year college education to better themselves, their schools and their communities.” Each community college in Alabama has two representatives.
The Alabama Community College System’s All-Alabama Academic Team Recognition Program was established in 1995 as an enhancement to the All-USA National Academic Team Recognition Program, which is sponsored by the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, the American Association of Community Colleges and USA Today.
