williamWilliam F. Miller, 87, of Decatur, passed away Friday, March 20, 2015, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born on January 5, 1928, in Saginaw, Michigan, the only child of Lewis William Miller and Helen Anna Hallmann Miller. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University in 1950 and served in the United States Army from 1950-1952. He married the former Marjorie Zella Stork on January 24, 1953. She predeceased him on March 8, 2012. He began his professional career with Saginaw Steering Gear in 1953 in Saginaw. He and his family relocated to Decatur in July, 1974, when he was assigned Supt. of Plant Engineering at the new Plant 21 (“Saginaw”) in Limestone County. He retired from SSG in 1987 after 34 years of service. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Decatur, and a member of the Decatur Lions Club.
He is survived by two daughters, Cindy Lou Kelly (Jeffrey), of Decatur, and Lori Sue Cabaniss (Wyman), of Montgomery; two grandchildren, Dr. Wyman William Cabaniss (Melanie), of Greenville, South Carolina, and Dr. Carrie Cabaniss Paxton (Roman), of Prattville; one great-grandson, Wyman Miller Cabaniss, due to be born in May, 2015; one very special great-aunt, Irma Lange of Saginaw; two nephews, Kurt Krueger (Lori), of Freeland, Michigan and William Hayes (Mary), of Orlando, Florida; one niece, Lynn Krueger Ware, of Knoxville, Tennessee; and numerous cousins.
A memorial service will be officiated by Rev. Christopher Brynestad on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at noon at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1700 Carridale St., SW, in Decatur. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Entombment will be in Oakwood Mausoleum, Saginaw, Michigan.
