williamWilliam Clifford Faulkner passed away Friday, Dec. 4, 2015, at ECM Hospital surrounded by his family.
He was born Oct. 2, 1931, in Lauderdale County, Alabama, to William Frank and Bertha Womble Faulkner.
He attended Central High School through 11th grade, but had to quit to help his dad on the farm since his dad’s health was failing. He went on to work for Belew and Roberts Construction Company, operating heavy equipment, working his way up to supervisor. Over the years he supervised the construction of many roads all over Alabama. He was very proud of his work and loved to explain how each road was made to anyone who wanted to listen. He would build kitchen cabinets, gun cabinets, cedar chests, etc. for people in the winter when his construction work would be slow. He also worked as a carpenter and did all types of woodwork. There was nothing that he couldn’t build or repair, and he didn’t quit working on something until it was perfect.
He loved his work but he loved his family most of all. He wanted a house full of children and God blessed him with a house full. He had six children, 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and loved them all very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Frank Faulkner and his mother Bertha Womble Faulkner, half-sister, Ala Mae Fowlkes, half-brother, Dewey Faulkner, daughter, Teresa Churchwell, and grandson, Scotty Faulkner.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Hazel Bell Faulkner; brothers, Neal Faulkner (Joy) and Walker Faulkner (Alice); children, Stanley Faulkner (Trudy), Phillip Faulkner (Linda), Janet Faulkner, Marsha Bradford (Robert Oliver) and Gina O’Kelley; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Linda Schafer (Charlie).
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, 2015, at Spry-Williams Funeral Home, Florence. Services will be at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow in Pisgah Methodist Cemetery, Florence.
Pallbearers will be, Damon Williford, Tyler Williford, Phillip Peters, Devin Bradford, Dewayne Walker and Mac Herston.

The family would like to give a very special thank you to Spry-Williams Funeral Home for their kindness and for making our family feel like a part of their family.
The family requests that all charitable contributions be made to the Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Karen Oakley, 280 County Road 139, Florence, AL 35633.
